Presentation of Shitokai
Our story
As one of the most comprehensive styles of karate, Shito-ryu is a widespread sport in the martial arts scene.
Shitoryu is one of the four main styles of Karate-Do (unarmed martial arts) practiced today. A fast, powerful, but also soft, relaxed and above all natural style.
As the only association in Austria, we were given the honor to be entered in the
"List of Representatives of Member Countries and their Contacts"
from the book of the Japan Karatedo Federation Shitokai.
The related "Certificate of Affiliation",
was issued by the President of World-Shitoryu-Karate-Federation Hiroshi Murata.
Our training offer is aimed at beginners and advanced users of all ages and goals.
In Shito-Ryu Karate, a harmonious full-body training takes place.
concentration, coordination and physical movement are in the foreground.
Karate can be practiced as a balancing sport, for weight loss, or as a competitive sport.
Our special focus is placed on playful training for children from the age of 4 years.
All clubs usually train twice a week.
The Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Shitokai style was brought to Austria back in 1995 by Sensei Drago Mezga and established here in the clubs mentioned on the website.
The merger of the clubs in the Austrian Shitō-Ryū Karate-Do Shitokai Association in 2015 and the participation in the World Shitoryu Karatedo World Championship in Mexico in 2016 by our karateka are the preliminary highlights of the association.

Today, Master Sato continues to travel all over the world teaching karate. He is currently the Pan-American Director of the World Karatedo Shitoryu Organization (WSKF) and one of the youngest and highest ranking 8th Dan black belts in Shitoryu Karate today. Now he has turned his attention to the development of Shitoryu athletes worldwide....
